The mobile app functions as an effective management tool, specifically designed for food truck owners, front desk staff, and kitchen employees. It integrates a Point of Sale feature, enabling users to smoothly set up location, menu for today and process order payments. As a cloud-based system, it's compatible with all iOS and Android tablets, Star printers, and CardPoint card readers. The app also generates sales and inventory reports to help maximize profits and supports both English and Spanish languages.

Inheriting the project from a different company
Taking over the MVP app from another company was challenging due to inadequate documentation on its structure and functionality. We had to reverse engineer the code to understand it fully. Despite initial hurdles, we successfully gained control and continued development.

Utilization of hardware
This project is unique because it incorporates hardware, specifically a POS printer and a card reader. These components are crucial, distinguishing it from typical software-only developments. The printer is heavily used, indicating a strong reliance on physical outputs.

Card payments
‍The card reader connection introduced several challenges, mainly in facilitating card payments and integrating the device. Ensuring secure, seamless transactions requires careful handling and advanced technology. Proper configuration and maintenance are essential for reliable performance, making connectivity a crucial and demanding part of the project.

Technical research and architecture planning
The FoodTrux project begins with technical research and architecture planning, involving an extensive study of the food truck business's needs. This information guides the design of the solution's architecture, focusing on the necessary features and technologies.

New features
We've introduced the 'Kitchen view' feature for kitchen staff to monitor orders in real time through the ‘Kitchen’ tab. Previously, they could only print slips. Additionally, SMS notifications now provide instant updates, enhancing coordination between kitchen and front desk. We've also included features for pre-authorization of open tabs and splitting payments across multiple methods, all aimed at enhancing user experience and operational efficiency of FoodTrux.

Managing legacy updates
Upgrading our current systems to seamlessly integrate with new solutions ensures the relevance of existing systems and prevents complications during the rollout of new implementations. This approach facilitates a smooth transition and enhances overall system efficiency by ensuring seamless integration of new solutions.
